Experiment with the principle of hydrostatic balance.
Archimedes discovered the hydrostatic principle. This principle argues that fluids share the properties of taking on the shape of their containers, and not resisting deformation. If this principle is valid, connected bodies of water will reach the same level, regardless of their individual shape and size.
- Open and close each column’s tap.
- Press the button and fill the columns with water.
