In this exhibit, visitors can make a river delta appear in a sandy table top.

 

A river delta seen from the sky looks amazingly beautiful and complex. Still there is a logic to its shape. The water flows reaching lower levels because of gravity, and when it meets the see, it spreads out dividing into many small rivers.

  1. Open one or more water taps.
  2. Let the different water streams find their way.
  3. Try to modify the delta layout by moving the sand.
