In this exhibit the visitor’s fantasy and knowledge is challenged.

 

Brazil nuts are large, elongate, three-sided, oily seeds of the South American Brazil nut tree. Because of their flavor, they are also known as the butternut or cream nut. Because of the nuts’ three-sided structure and shell, which is extremely hard, wrinkly and woody, as well as its distriution of weight, it does not react as other nuts when tossed.

  1. Pick up a nut and toss it on the table.
  2. Observe how the nut spins until it stops.
  3. What happens after it has stopped turning the first time?
