Photo voltaic driven vehicles are advantageous because they can be used in places where there are no power lines, like on space ships or remote places on earth, as long as there is light. In this exhibition the visitors will be able to see this process work.
Photo voltaic cells are most often called solar cells. Photo voltaic cells convert light into electricity. Some materials exhibit a property known as the photoelectric effect, which causes them to absorb photons of light and release electrons. When these free electrons are captured, an electric current results is generated, which could be used as electricity to power, for example, a small motor on the wing of an airplane.
