In this exhibit the visitor can observe how the predecessor of modern film works.
A zootrope is a device that produces an illusion of action from a rapid succession of static pictures. The device consists of a cylinder with a strip of pictures around its inner surface and slits cut vertically in the outsides. When the drum is spun and the pictures viewed through slots on the side of the drum, the pictures appeared to move.
