In this game the visitors experience the principle of normal distribution. The game consists of a vertical board with interleaved rows of pins. The balls fall from the top, and bounce randomly left and right as they hit the pins. Eventually, they are collected into one-ball-wide bins at the bottom. The game illustrates that distribution follows a certain pattern, also called ‘Normal distribution’: the chance that a ball falls to one side successively is small, therefore the larger amounts of balls will land in the middle of the board.
